With one week to go until my big move to Paris, I've been trying to squeeze in as many home comforts as I can. Mostly this consists of country walks, log fires and bubble baths while reading British Vogue. I've also managed to make a couple trips to my new favourite local café.
Beals Barn Gardens is a plant nursery, local produce shop and café all rolled into one delightful package on the shores of Bewl Water reservoir. Come the weekend, you'll find cyclists, ramblers and brunch-enthusiasts (I definitely fall into the last category) dotted around the mis-match furniture drinking tea. We stopped in for lunch & cake this weekend, and left extremely content after hours spent getting our fill of food & laughter.
The cake is so good that we always manage to leave with half the produce for various friends and family members. I particularly recommend a traditional cream tea, in true British style. Pouring rain outside is optional.
I always feel very proud to see my Mum's photographic prints and embroidered cushions in the shop. Her work all comes under the name Design By Nature, so it's quite appropriate that you'll find them in amongst the marrows and runner beans.
To burn off all those scones we set off on an afternoon walk with Daisy. We were on a mission to pick as many blackberries as possible - to make blackberry crumble as well as blackberry gin. A family of alcoholics as well as pudding enthusiasts, clearly!
If I could fit this little one in my bag, she'd be joining me in Paris! I have no doubt the Parisians would find her extremely chic.
