{Music To My Ears: Communion}


I first fell in love with Communion back in London. Don't worry, my blog hasn't turned into a preaching platform - Communion is a live music night and record label. They, including Ben Lovett from Mumford & Sons, showcase new, unsigned or just plain incredible talent. The likes of Ben Howard, Daughter and many others playing under the umbrella of folk have a close relationship with the fellas at Communion. 


What I liked best about these nights was the lack of pretension or grandeur that you often find associated with club nights or gigs. At the soul of the label is a desire to hear & play good music, without having to pay a million bucks to then have to stand at the back with a terrible view of the stage. So, on my move to Leeds, I attended their monthly nights as often as I could. After a hard day of essay-writing (read:online-shopping), it was a treat to sit down at a intimate little table with a friend and watch some great bands/singers by candlelight.
