{Merci: International Pals}

This Saturday night brought with it a blast from the past, all the way from Nice in the sunny South of France. Joachim, who's from Norway, was in my university residence in Montpellier. He was one of the first people to show me that a sense of humour is international - because the same things make us laugh and he seriously cracks me up. We spent many a night wandering the streets of Montpellier, drinking and causing mischief. It was only thanks to my Swedish genes that I managed to keep up with the Scandinavians (most of the time).

To see him again almost two years later, it was like nothing had changed. We relived old stories from our Montpellier days, and marvelled at how'd we'd grown up - but mostly how we were exactly the same crazy people.

All this nostalgia occurred while simultaneously indulging in my favourite French dish: Confit de canard (duck) with sautéed potatoes. Seriously, if you haven't tried it, you're missing out. We ate at a charming place called Le Pavé on Rue des Lombards, which is buzzing with bars and restaurants.

We made sure to get bottle of a wine from the Languedoc region (where Montpellier is located), and as always, our favourite city did not disappoint.

'Til next time Joachim, and Merci to Erasmus for bringing us together!
